Food Packaging Machine Testing & Quality Control

Real Product Trials, Factory Acceptance Testing & Pre-Shipment Inspection

At Fill Package, every weigher, VFFS machine and conveyor is tested with your product, or the closest available substitute, before production starts and again before it ships. You see the results on video and in a written test report, and you approve them before the machine leaves our factory in Foshan, Guangdong, China.

Key Facts About Our Testing

  • Pre-order trial:we run your material (or a local equivalent) on the proposed machine before you place an order.
  • Production starts only after you approvethe trial results.
  • Factory Acceptance Test (FAT):each machine is checked against a written checklist with target values, measured results and pass/fail.
  • Run test before shipment:[[TBC: e.g. 72 hours for multihead weighers; X hours for conveyors]] under real or simulated load.
  • You receivetest videos, the FAT report and pre-set parameters before shipment.
  • Remote or on-site FATis available for every order.

1. Our Quality Commitment: We Test for Your Product, Not Just the Machine

A packaging machine that runs well on dry granules can fail on marinated meat, frozen dumplings or sticky gummies. That is why our testing is built around your product’s real behaviour: how it flows, sticks, breaks and falls.

Our quality process has five stages: a pre-production product trial, in-process manufacturing QC, a factory acceptance test, a reliability run test, and a final pre-shipment inspection. Each stage leaves a record you can review.

 2. Pre-Production Product Testing: Will This Machine Handle Your Product?

Before you order, we test your product on the proposed machine configuration. If you can ship samples, we use them; if not, we source the closest equivalent available in China, because meat texture, snack size and moisture vary by country.

We evaluate:

  • Flowability– does the product feed evenly, or does it bridge and clump?
  • Stickiness– does it adhere to hoppers, buckets or chutes?
  • Weighing accuracy– average weight and deviation against your target weight.
  • Discharge behaviour– does it drop cleanly into the bag without tailing or breakage?

If the trial shows that a standard machine is not suitable, we recommend changes such as screw feeders, Teflon-coated or dimpled contact surfaces, or adjusted vibration settings. We only start production after you confirm the trial results.

Example: [[TBC: e.g. Marinated chicken cubes, 500 g target, 14-head screw feeder weigher, average 502.1 g, standard deviation 1.8 g, 35 packs/min, tested March 2026.]]

 3. Manufacturing Quality Control

Quality is checked while the machine is being built, not only at the end. Our in-line inspectors check:

  • Materials:food-contact parts in SUS304 stainless steel [[TBC: SUS316 option for salty or acidic products?]], verified against supplier certificates.
  • Welding and surface finish:continuous welds, no sharp edges, polished food-contact surfaces.
  • Dimensions and alignment:frames, hoppers and chutes checked against drawings.
  • Electrical assembly:component brands, wiring layout, labelling and cabinet sealing.
  • Drives and sensors:motors, load cells and photoelectric sensors tested before installation.

Bought-in components come from [[TBC: e.g. Siemens / Schneider / HBM brands]] and are inspected on arrival. We record part numbers so replacements can be traced later. Any deviation from specification is corrected before assembly continues.

 4. Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)

A factory acceptance test (FAT) is a documented test, carried out at the manufacturer’s factory before shipment, that confirms a machine meets the performance and safety requirements agreed in the order. It is the most important checkpoint in our process.

How our FAT works:

  1. Agree the criteria. Before production, we confirm target weight, allowed deviation, speed, bag size and any special requirements with you.
  2. Set up the machine. The machine is fully parameterised to your settings using the trial product.
  3. Run and measure. We run full production cycles and record actual weight, speed, sealing quality and alarms.
  4. Record results. Each item is marked with its target, actual result and pass or fail.
  5. Fix and re-test.Any item that fails is corrected and tested again; the re-test is recorded in the same report.
  6. Customer acceptance. You review the report and video, attend in person, or join a live video call, then sign off.

Tip for buyers: a credible FAT report shows measured values, not just a column of “PASS”. Ask every supplier for one.

 5. Machine-Specific Testing

Different machines fail in different ways, so each type has its own test items.

MachineKey test itemsTypical performance testedTest video
Multihead WeigherWeight deviation, combination speed, discharge stability ±0.3–1.5 g, up to 120 weighs/minContinuous weighing with live data
Screw Feeder Multihead WeigherAdhesion, blocking, screw feeding, discharge ±0.5–1.5 g, up to 45 weighs/minFresh or marinated meat

The values above are typical. Your FAT criteria are set for your product and written into the order.

[H3] How do you test a multihead weigher for sticky food?

Sticky products such as fresh meat, kimchi or cooked rice are tested on a screw feeder multihead weigher. We check whether product sticks to the feeders and buckets, whether the screws feed a consistent portion into each head, and whether weight deviation stays within target over a continuous run. [[TBC: one real result line]]

[H3] How do you test a VFFS packaging machine?

We run continuous bag making with your film and product, then measure bag length, check seals by squeeze and [[TBC: leak / water immersion]] test, and record bags per minute at the agreed bag size.

[H2] 6. Reliability Testing & Pre-Shipment Inspection

After the FAT, each machine runs continuously to reveal faults that only appear over time.

  • Run test duration:[[TBC: e.g. 72 hours for weighers and VFFS; 24 hours for conveyors; or as agreed in the order]].
  • Load:real product, substitute product or simulated load [[TBC]].
  • What we monitor:motor temperature, vibration, signal stability, software stability and alarms.
  • Pass condition:no unplanned stops and all readings within limits; any fault is fixed and the run is [[TBC: restarted / extended]].

The final pre-shipment inspection then covers:

  • Appearance:cleanliness, weld finish, panel labelling.
  • Electrical:voltage and frequency for your country, grounding, fuses, insulation.
  • Safety:emergency stops, guards and interlocks.
  • Packing:parts list, spare parts, documents, moisture-proof wrapping and crate.

[H2] 8. Customer FAT & Remote Inspection

You can accept your machine in three ways:

  • On-site FAT:visit our factory in Foshan and run the machine yourself. [[TBC: notice required, e.g. 7 days]]
  • Live remote FAT:join a video call; we run the agreed tests on camera and show the touchscreen readings in real time.
  • Report and video review:we send the FAT report and unedited test videos for your approval.

If a result does not meet the agreed criteria, we adjust the machine, re-test, and send you the updated report. The machine ships only after you approve.

[H2] 9. Testing FAQs

Do I need to send product samples? Not always. Real samples give the most reliable result; we need about [[TBC: X kg]]. If shipping samples is difficult, we test with the closest equivalent available in China and explain any differences.

Can I watch or record the test? Yes. You can join a live video call, and we send recorded test videos for every machine.

Is there a charge for the FAT? [[TBC: e.g. The standard FAT is included in the machine price. On-site visits are free; travel is at the customer’s cost.]]

What happens if the machine fails the FAT? We correct the issue and repeat the failed test items. The re-test is recorded in the same report, and the machine does not ship until you approve.

What documents do I receive before shipment? [[TBC: e.g. FAT report, test videos, parameter settings, user manual, electrical drawings, spare parts list, CE declaration.]]

How long does pre-order testing take? [[TBC: e.g. 3–7 working days after samples arrive.]]

Can every machine be tested with my exact product? Not always. Some products cannot be shipped or kept fresh. In those cases we agree a substitute and test conditions with you before testing, so the results remain meaningful.
